Through the lens. And specifically as it relates to the world of commercial photography, the need for a visual artist to pull it all together to tell a clients story. For this Camelbak story, featuring iconic bike rider Kirt Voreis, Art Director Kristin Bumgarner of Formium Agency (located in Petaluma—the City formerly referred to as the Egg Capital of the World), tapped Heimo for the job of coming up with ways to get this job done: With more than 20 years of hydration leadership, CamelBak joined forces with its top athletes to develop a pack collection dedicated to riders who insist on pushing their limits with every run on the mountain. The Don™, The Capo™ and Consigliere™ are a collection of hydration packs not to be messed with. Of course doing a wheelie, bare footed, in a hospital gown is not for sissies either.

Lastly, for now, for those that love a good non-sequitur as well for those that know and love Heimo for them, when asked from where this random one came in to being, his classic, dry response, “I just liked how he looked and took his picture”.

Only thing that we can currently show from the latest of Heimo’s last few assignments, one of the heroes from a portraits-on-white library for Publicis Dialog starring LG Electronics spokeswoman, Stephanie Duchaine. Watching Heimo seamlessly multi-task as DP for motion content while capturing for the print, brings home that the gap between the mediums is closing at a rapid clip. Bring it.

SF-based agency Duncan Channon chose local (okay, he had to cross the GG Bridge) artist Heimo Schmidt to bring his eye to the quirky Gnarly Head brand. And everyone was home in time for dinner.

These next 4 are part of a ten-year project that Heimo started called 17 Reasons. The 17 Reasons sign was part of San Francisco’s Mission District and a title he picked for this project to inspire taking 17 new pictures of people in San Francisco. Originally started as 8X10 cross processed polaroids, it also produced color images as well and we’re proud to feature them here:

We asked Heimo to divulge views from his NYC trip:
What else do you need to know?

I meet an Angel the drives a peddle cab.

New Museum of New York guides. Some happy…

Some not.

Beverage?

And yes it was hot and humid.

On my way to a meeting via public transport, what’s that smell?

back on the street

and on the 5 local.

scenes between meetings and walking around.

On the roof of the Met.

three dollar mini meal?

Kathryn’s friend has a new Tattoo.

My friend David catching a friend.

Out the window of the plane, San Francisco is down there somewhere. Home sweet home.

We asked Heimo to document and share some of his trip. Here’s his report:
Oakland Airport (Dude, where did you park the car?).....

View from my hotel room on San Vicente.

and the house across the street.

watching the video assist from the film crew as I wait for the talent to be released into my custody….

back to the hotel for a soak in the tub that actually is long enough for my six foot five….

You are seated in an exit row, are you prepared to open the door in case of emergency? I have complete confidence that these people can open the door.

Oh and while you’re on the plane, don’t breathe or touch anything….

Meanwhile, back in Los Angeles…....

This is part of a new series by Heimo.
