An Almås Grows in Brooklyn

October 6th, 2010 by Kate Chase

In Honor of Loni Weholt’s guiding spirit…

Early summer for Erik meant a dusting off of his theory of New York as 3rd home and turning it into a reality. His envisioned living criteria were simple: A space that felt fresh, clean and somewhat Norwegian in aesthetic – maybe some windows, maybe a view. Logistically it was about proximity and make ready for the “call” from Vanity Fair.

The first attempts to stake out some living space would take Erik into the not-so-romantic-arms of Manhattan real estate…but the borough of Brooklyn would not disappoint. Several cab rides, one agent, two-days of looking at spaces, an of-the-moment roommate deal sealed with fellow friend/photographer Thayer Gowdy, a decision and deposit later, we officially announce that Erik is bi-coastal—living and working as NY local. Come on by.
